Photographer’s Note
I know, I know, this is already such a cliche name, every photo from Burano has something with colours in its name....
But anyway, I could not think of anything better...another shot of ...Burano...
...Burano, this little island in the Venetian Lagoon, which you can walk through and through within half an hour, is really a very „colourful“ experience.
Little amount of facts for those who have no idea (from the helpful Wikipedia): Burano is an island in the Venetian Lagoon, although like Venice itself it could more correctly be called an archipelago of islands linked by bridges. It lies near Torcello at the northern end of the Lagoon, and is known for its lacework.
Burano is situated 7 kilometers from Venice, a short 40 minute trip by Venetian motorboats, "vaporetti". The island is linked to Mazzorbo by a bridge. The current population of Burano is about 4,000.
Burano is also known for its small, brightly-painted houses, popular with artists. The designer Philippe Starck owns three houses. Other attractions include the Church of San Martino, with a campanile, the Oratorio di Santa Barbara and the Museum and School of Lacemaking. The colours of the houses follow a specific system originating from the golden age of its development; if someone wishes to paint their home, one must send a request to the government, who will respond by making notice of the certain colours permitted for that lot. This practice has resulted in the myriad of warm, pastelly colours that characterises the island today.

Hi Ivana,
of course you gotta have those Burano shots! I like this one even though light seemed to be a bit harsh and created really strong shadows.
Best,
Philippe

Hello Ivana,
Beautiful colours and framing of this scene. I find it interesting how the two doors seem different in size. Good details and light. Thanks Ivana :-)

nice shot.
I love the deep colors against the white frames of the doors and windows. The washing ads some contrast to the sharp lines of the building.

Hello Ivana,
This isn't an usually image from Burano, but a different shot for the beautiful elements that you composed very well, like the doors and the windows, but overall I like the clothes that give life to the scene, and of course the great colours.
Warm regards and take care... a kiss!

Hello Ivana,
A collection of white rectangles against a dark beautifully coloured wall... A pleasant scene well captured.

Hello Ivana,
Effectivement, il ne peut y avoir que de superbes couleurs dans une photographie de Burano.
La tienne est remplie de rouge mais montre également un scène de la vie quotidienne. Ce linge qui séche donne de la vie à l'image.
Bien vu !

hi Ivana,
cliche or not, I like the shot a lot, the frame busy with all kinds of colours and things work well to ilustrative the lively Italian cities. it's not always easy to isolate a photo-size area from the bigger scene and still maintain the spirit of the place, but you have done exactly that. great shot, I like it a lot.
best,
Kristine

hi Ivana,
I like this series of yours on Burano - a dream for every person (photographer or not) who likes colours...
I only have film and slide photos of Burano, taken years ago - if I could go now, with my digital camera, God knows how many GB I would shoot...
this photo is very representative of Burano: the vivid red, the laundry, the passageway, the flowers, the shadows cast by the afternoon sun... it fits well into this white frame, too.

Ivana,
Excellent detail and vibrant color. Nice to see that people still hang out their clothes to dry.
I would recommend taking the photo at a different time of day when the light isn't so harsh.
