Photographer’s Note

Alor Star has a number of mosques, but apart from the Zahir mosque there is this beautiful Albukary mosque with its twenty-three composite domes designed in the traditional style of Isfahan which fascinates me the most. The architecture really has a lot of similarities to Isfahan, which I visited in 1986. I hope to return to Isfahan one day, but for the time being I’m happy visit the Albukary mosque from time to time which actually is not so far from our home.
The main dome of the Al Bukhary Mosque, 14m in diameter, is decorated with quranic calligraphy in ceramic tiles fabricated using traditional techniques. Beneath is a drum of window arches with decorative grilles. There also are two majestic minarets in the middle of different smaller half domes, decorated with arabesque mosaics. The main dome is decorated with calligraphic inscriptions

The downside of the picture is, that I took it before another downpour just minutes later.

Stunning photograph, Urs. I always wonder, when I see such exalted art and architecture. I jsut wonder. It's lovely and peaceful. Colors are terrific and details so perfect. Thanks, Judy

Très belle prise de vue. Les coupoles des temples reprennent le même bleu que la mosaique de la piscine. C'est étonnant de ne pas voir personne sur cette photo, à un si bel endroit.

Hello Urs ,
A nice building ! I like the blue tonalities , the same in the water and on the roofs . I make a WS , because I think there is a little tilt and a lack of sharpness .

very nice pov, the mosque is very beautiful and you found a nice framing to put all these details in a nice position. I liked the soft light and these colors too. I guess the image is something tilted to the left, anyqway this doesn't spoil the image

Hello Urs,

The blue domes are real eye-catchers, fine repetition effect!
The palm trees contrast nicely with the surroundings, and the water arrangements have fine lead-in lines...
A balanced composition with fine details!

Hi Urs,
beautiful blue mosque with blue sky. It is not that easy to capture this one. Morning time is the best as the light hits the mosque without any shadow.
Very sharp and clear presentation.
I like its architecture very much.
Well done. Any night phoytography of the mosque?
