Photographer’s Note

Opposite the spectacular cliffs of Capo Caccia, the Foradada island is an ancient separated fragment of coast that takes its name from the peculiarity lies within: in fact, the rock has a tunnel going through it, dug out by the sea; the cave of Grotta dei Palombi.
The island has a harsh appearance and is really rather impervious and doesn't have any landing points, and is thus visitable only by circumnavigating its coasts of wild beauty by boat.
On this rock isolated form dry land grows a rare endemism: the insular brassica (a mustard grass).
The island, together with the Alghero coast from Punta delle Gessiere to Capo Galera , belongs to the Protected Marine Area of Capo Caccia, under protection for their landscape and naturalistic peculiarities. For example, the rare Eleonora’s falcon nests here, and a herd of Giara horses lives on its shores.
