Photographer’s Note

Cameroon Highlands is a region of lush green forest and tea plantations. The weather is really agreable and much cooler tham other parts of south-east Asia. Most of the workers in the region cama from Sri Lanka, Nepal and India to work on the tea plantations. The chinese are more and more numerous in the region occupaying small fruit and flower farms that go up hills. Malays work at the public sector and in this region reall seem to be minority. The local tribes, the Orang Asli, are unfortunately more and more pushed away and deprived of their traditional way of live. The forest has been cleared to make place to fruit and flower plantation...

Hi Flavia:

Yes indeed it's a hard work but... very noble. I haven's seen a scenery as green as this. It gives deep meaning of life. The young man there gives justice to the entire composition of the photo. I love it very much. So refreshing!

What a cool sea of green accross the rolling hillside with great patterns too. Nice that you captured a worker walking up the steep hill forming a nice daily life image.

A good capture of this tea worker with the rolling hills of the tea plantation stretching out behind them. Very appealing soft green tones and good overall sharpness.

Salut Flavia,

Il y a une belle ambiance ici, avec la douce courbe des plantations qui se répète jusqu'à l'horizon. Les teintes sont belles, et la présence du travailleur agricole, en plus de bien équilibrer la composition, donne une bonne échelle de grandeur à ce paysage. Je pense par contre que tu aurais pu cadrer un peu plus serré pour éviter la lumière un peu forte à l'arrière plan, sans pour autant perdre trop de perspective.

A fine composition of the gently rolling hills behind the tea-plucker. Seen from a distance, tea-bushes are really among the most beautiful plants.

Belle perspective sur ces ondulations vertes qui se déclinent jusqu'à l'horizon, le ceuilleur donnant bien la dimension du panorama
je suis un peu gêné par le haut de l'image qui est un peu surexposée et casse un peu la force générale de l'image. IMHO je crois que tu aurais pu couper juste avant la fumée dans le lointain

This is an excellent image of the tea fields. I like the way the curves in the figure of the worker echo the curves of the hilsides and the rows between the bushes. Am I right in suspecting that we can also see a fire in the far distance -- forest being removed?

Hi Flavia. Super POV that shows well the highlands aspect of the topography. The light is subtle and the colours soft and nicely nuanced. Did you try the rose jam while there? I had the good luck to visit a kampong of the Orang Asli a few decades ago and even then the Chinese were encroaching into their land.Such is the fate of native minorities, unless the government steps in.As if, when money talks. Despite its simplicity and almost classic view, there is an atmosphere that attracts me a lot.
Curves of green ridges and soft light over the ridges create a very beautiful landscape and young man on FG somehow completes the composition.

Uma vista e um retrato d quotidiano magníficos. O trabalhador está muito bem colocado, ligeiramente descentrado, no 1º plano daquelas encostas cobertas de folhagem incrivelmente verde. As linhas ajudam imenso o impacto da foto e, juntamente com a névoa ao fundo dão uma sensação de perspectiva fabulosa.

As plantações de chá costumam dar fotos excelentes. Gosto muito deste formato, mostrando o padrão da extensa plantação ao fundo e com a inclusão do trabalhador em 1º plano. Bem conseguida!
