Photographer’s Note

The Outer Banks allures many visitors each year to the beautiful beaches, sand dunes and more. While visiting for Thanksgiving in 2008 I travelled south to a more remote area known as Rodanthe. Here the famous movie "Nights in Rodanthe" was filmed starring Richard Gere and Diane Lane. While waiting to visit the house utlitized in the movie I found this pier and looked out to the rolling surf while the sun gradually rose to greet us.

Hello Lisa,

I do not know about Rodanthe on the Outer Banks, but this lovely sunrise scene is highly beckoning. One morning when we were in Corolla (on June 30th), I woke up at 5:38 am, by coincidence 10 minutes before the sun was scheduled to wake up. I jumped in my car and negotiated the two blocks to the beach area and captured shots evocative of this beauty. In the area around Corolla, however, there are not long piers as one sees in this shot.
