Today is Monday, so I brought Michael Burkes - "The Iron Man" of the blues to help us get through it.

This was shot at the Memphis in May Beale Street Music Festival. Michael came on stage between two great bands - Cedric Burnside & Lightnin' Malcolm and Curtis Salgado (I've yet to post any shots of him and his band). On one hand, how could he follow up to Cedric & Malcolm, on the other, how could Curtis Salgado follow up to him? The blues tent acts just kept getting better and better.

I had seen Michael perform before and knew we were in for a treat. I hadn't seen him in quite some time, since the Big Muddy Blues Festival in 2002. He has only gotten better!

So, here is Iron Man Mike Burkes from Arkansas in all his back-lit, head smokin' glory, tearing up his guitar and the crowd in Memphis in May!
