Photographer’s Note

The train runs only in the summer because of extremely heavy snow conditions in winter. Here you see the train near the summit. We passed an area where the snow was almost as deep as the height of the train. For more information on the train and its history, see my previous post. For more of my images, visit my website HERE I'm busy and travelling for a couple of weeks so will not be around TE except to peek now and again. See you again soon.

Amazing to see so much snow in May, but then - this is Alaska! Perfectly exposed snow and well composed image where the train emerges diagonally from the bottom corner into the frame.

We are in the heart of the summer and we organise our holidays.This view is a little bit forgotten to me but I liked the dynamic contrast of the snow and the colourful train..I red that this train runs only in the summer.It is fantastic..thanks for sharing this photo and enjoy a travel with this train..

The white colour of the snow looks gorgeous and also I like this composition with the train in the foreground and the country and snow-covered mountains at the background.

Great shot of this winter scene with the colorful train making it's way through the snow. The train gives the scene direction. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail. The deep blue sky provides nice contrast for the scene.

It must be quite an experience to climb from spring at the sea level to snowy and sunny landscape at the pass. Perfect weather to capture Arctic views from a train. And great that you managed to get it in the picture too.

Hello Gerald! Even in May there is plenty of snow and I wonder if it ever goes away. Lovely scene with the coloful train entering and this deep blue sky with just some clouds here and there. This must be a wonderful ride on this train, a great way to explore the area, you can sit there, drink a coffee ... and enjoy. We have still snow on our mountains but it melts these days and the green takes over before the first snow comes again in September. Very nice photo, Gerald, happy travels ... and come back with new "material" ... Barbara.

Bonjour Gerald,
une photo qui nous apporte notre bol de fraicheur avec toutefois un ciel bien plus joli que celui de nos régions ces derniers jours. Une photo agréablement cadrée, on se plait souvant en train, dans les virages, à photographier la tête ou la queue de ce train.
Bonne balance et exposition des blancs.

The yellow and green locomotive looks very impressive against the fresh snow.

I think I know why it's called White Pass, Because it's so white with snow, like your image here show :)
Anyway, I love it, great shot, good clarity, some much details in the snow even on such strong light, snow can be very hard to capture. Love the contrast of the snow and blue sky, the colors of the train adds some warm to it. Good manage of light and contrast, good composition too. Thanks
