Photographer’s Note
Plaka is the "capital" of Milos, the most beautiful village of the island, a real "Hora" of the Cyclades. Although it's located quite far from the sea, on the top of a hill, it has been for the last centuries the "base" of the Milian mariners.
The seamen of Milos were considered the best "pilotoi" (=navigators) of the Mediterranean, and were payed very well to offer their services. The could take any ship, anywhere in the Mediterranean with excellent precision, in a time when the Radars and the GPS, were not even science fiction. So they chose to live much higher than sea level, so they could easily spot passing ships. The other reason they chose to live far from the sea, was to avoid pirates' attacks.

That's an impressive blue hour photo and in my personal opinion the lamppost at the top is playing a predominant role here. The bougainvilleas on the left hand side and the pinky door at the left constitute a nice symmetry and I like the pleasant overeall ambience. Best regards, Tolga

Geia sou Hrakli,
Beautiful evocation of the sweetness of the evenings and of the Greek summer nights.
We guess a little wind in the vagueness of the bougainvillaea.
I have good souvenirs of dinner to Plaka and another watercolor with the bus which moves back to maneuver in a little street as this one!

Hi Hercules,
another masterpiece!
I am so jealous that you visit all these beautiful places.
It seems really very pretty.
Your work is excellent again. I like the perspective: including the lamp high above our heads is very original, also the surface of the pavement is very rich. Plus great blue sky of course.
Great job,

Dag Hercules,
I think Vincent van Gogh was never in Greece, but I’m sure if he had visit this place he could have used this scene for one of his impressionistic masterpieces like he did in Arles. Maybe he should have seen more yellow in the light, but the blue sky is unsurpassable.

Bonjour Hercule
que de couleurs dans tes photos, et du bleu surtout comme le ciel, ce qui n'est pas le cas chez moi!
il doit être bon de flaner à l'heure bleue et de s'asseoir à une terrasse dans ces petites ruelles
c'est féérique
bravo

Dear Hercules
That are exactly the kind of restaurants I resp. we like the most, but in this part of the world most of this kind of restaurants are tourist traps. Locals would not eat there because they are overpriced. Only lately there are some nice restaurants coming up in Thailand, in particular Greater Bangkok and Chiang Mai, where you can find a similar atmosphere and younger Thais like to hang out.
I like your nicely framed picture and the great perspective. It's splendid. The colors just are great as also sharpness and DOF are. No wonder you must have taken the picture in the magical blue hour. Congrats
Best regards

Thanks for the invitation ;) This place looks friendly and I like the way you've framed the restaurant in between the walls. The street lamp is also a nice detail to look at and stands out well against the 'bluuue' sky ;) Fine sharpness too!
