Photographer’s Note

To celebrate Canada Day/La Fete Du Canada I present you a little piece of history of this great country:

Hatley Castle was completed in 1908. From 1941 until 1943 when Grant Block was completed, the Castle served as dormitory and mess hall for cadets and staff officers at Royal Roads Military College. It is now the administrative centre of Royal Roads University. It houses the President, Vice-President, the Managers of Finance and Facilities, and the administrative support staff for Royal Roads University.

Hatley Castle is known to Smallville fans as Luthor Mansion, the estate belonging to Lex Luthor.
The castle is also known to fans of the X-Men film series as the setting for Professor Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters.

Hello Roberto,
Happy Canada Day, I hope it is a more sober affair than Australia Day which is turning into a really big excuse to get rolling drunk and bash people.
I don't remember this castle from either of the movies you pointed out in your note, must have been a hangover from Australia Day.
Nice sharp, clean and well positioned capture, is that Wisteria in the foreground, whatever the flower is, it's colours are beautiful.

What an amazing place! I had no idea we had a castle on the shores of N. America. The wisteria and vines really soften the effect. Your color and point of view, plus the lilies in the foreground make for an inviting shot. Thank you. Judy

Hi Roberto, I like this photo very much. First of all - splendid visteria (glycynia) in two colours. Such a white is rather unusual. Down there I think is hemerocallis but I am not sure. And the walls all covered with -partenocissus? Nice simple architecture, marvelous colours.

You had excellent light an blue sky on which the castle stands out perfectly out! The purple/white 'wisteria' are an eye catcher and contrast nicely with the green and blue color tones of the image.
