Photographer’s Note
This photo was taken as we were going down the trail towards the Cliff House or sometimes called Cliff Palace. The people ahead of us will soon be leaving by the time our group gets to the Cliff House.
Mesa Verde is not only beautiful but it is very interesting place to me, being a Pilipino-American. Most of the ruins in America that I have seen were by the British, Spanish and other settlers. Mesa Verde is an area that has been the home to American Indians for 700 years. It is America's First World Heritage Site.
This ruin is the largest and best-known of the cliff dwellings in Mesa Verde, Colorado. The site has 150 identified rooms and 23 kivas (social and spiritual room). Although this and other Mesa Verde sites are large and well constructed, the Cliff House demonstrates a long history of occupation and its architectural design is an aggregation of dwellings and storage spaces that developed slowly and randomly. Accurate archaeological information from this site has been limited due to several decades of digging and collecting at the turn of the Twentieth century.

Dear Andre
When I saw your picture I had to click it. The picture and the note are very interesting. Thanks for sharing it with us all. I had no idea about the Cliff House in the U.S. Your picture is well composed with very nice reddish hues. The tour group standing at the right side adds life to the shot and the greenery in the foreground boost the attractiveness. Sharpness and DOF are great. Well done.
Best regards
Urs

Daniel.

Hi Andre,
This is quite a place, isn't it? And you have succeeded to capture the beauty of this Cliff Palace.
My wife and I also visited the Mesa Verde in 2005 and really enjoyed the guided tour. However, she didn't like climbing those narrow ladders. Shortly afterwards, we saw a coyote not far from this park. Thanks for sharing.
Paul
