Photographer’s Note

Edificata fra il 1614 e il 1616 dal nobile Francesco Rotondo, la chiesa di Santa Chiara, che sorge in piazza Colajanni, fu sede della Compagnia di Gesù fino al 1767, anno in cui i gesuiti vennero cacciati dalla Sicilia. La chiesa fu quindi affidata alle clarisse, che la fecero adornare con splendide inferriate alle finestre e al coro.
Alla chiesa si accede per mezzo di una monumentale scalinata. Ha una facciata larga, disposta su due ordini, divisi da un'aggettante cornice e percorsa da piatte lesene. La chiesa è costituita da un’unica navata, pregevole il pavimento di maiolica del 1852 dai colori sgargianti con vedute della città di Santa Sofia e di un battello a vapore ed il dipinto di Giuseppe Salerno, lo Zoppo di Gangi e la Madonna della Grazie.
Dopo la seconda guerra mondiale la chiesa è diventata sacrario dei caduti.

Built between 1614 and 1616 by the noble Francis Rotondo, the church of Saint Chiara was center of the Company of Jesus up to 1767, year when the Jesuits were chased from Sicily.
The church was submitted therefore to the clarisse, that made it decorate with splendid grilles to the windows and the choir. To the church a monumental stairway is entered through.
It has a wide façade, prepared on two orders, divided by a projecting frame and crossed by flat injured of it.
The church is constituted by an only aisle, valuable the 1852 maiolica floor from the garish colors with views of the city of Saint Sofia and of a vapor boat and the painting of Joseph Salerno, the Lame one of Gangi and the Madonna of the Graces.
After the second world war the church has become shrine of the fallen ones.

Ciao Maurizio,
bella inquadratura, resa dinamica dal taglio che hai dato al cancello.
Mi piace molto la scelta del tuo POV, che in diagonale permette di vedere la chiesa anche oltre il cancello.

Forse hai dato troppo contrasto al cielo.
Vedo dei puntini nella zona azzurra.

bellissima immagine con tagli perfetti, i colori sono quelli naturali delle pietre, il cancella aperto invita ad entrare.Scusa mauro ma forse hai forzato un attimo nel cielo, scorgo un po di grana, ma non toglie niente alla semplicità e bellezza dell'immagine.

Trovo veramente affascinante questa tua immagine. Così ricca di suggestioni. Provo a spiegarmi? La chiesa, così imponente, svetta verso un cielo un po' incerto: tra nuvole e azzurro. Siamo tutti un po' incerti, no? Il muro é vecchio, ma chi non si sente gravare gli anni sulle spalle? Però il cancello é aperto. Possiamo tutti varcarne la soglia. Scoprendo, forse, una vita diversa e più bella. Sono la solita vecchia romanticona? Ma sì, ormai lo sai...
