Photographer’s Note

The mountainous Argithea is 60 km westwards of Karditsa. The village was initially known as Knisovo. It is built in a location verdurous of firs, beech trees and chestnuts. The stone-built houses in combination to the magnificent natural landscape create an idyllic scenery.
The rich fauna and flora of Argithea, as and the monuments make it the ideal destination for those wanting to explore the natural beauties of the area. West of Argithea, the excavations have brought into light an ancient cemetery of the 4th BC with graves, vessels and jewels.

A tour around the traditional villages of Argithea will make you feel rejuvenated. Visit Anthiro, one of the biggest villages of the region, built in a 800 m height. Up there, you will see the monasteries of the Dormition and Nascency, with frescoes of the 17th and the 18th century. You will also see what is left from the famous Korakos bridge, which joined in Thessaly with Epirus. The bridge was built at the beginnings of the 16th century by Saint Vissarion.
Continue your tour through the villages of Petroto, Kali Komi, Therino and Ellinika. At the mountain slopes of Karava, lies Mesovouni village and in a 1000 m height, Karya. Those beautiful settlements are the municipal districts of Argithea municipality.

In Argithea and the surrounding villages you will find many furnished apartments, picturesque taverns and traditional cafes. If you are looking for a place to relax close to nature, Argithea is the place to be.

An interesting light situation, it seems like the clouds are clearing up to highlight the mountains!
I notice the V-shape of the valley and the different shades of green turning to blue in a distance...

Να’ μουν αητός να πέταγα .....

Πολύ ωραίο κάδρο, Γιώργο!
Φύση ζωντανή, όμορφη! Ο ουρανός θυμωμένος μεν αλλά ιδανικός για λήψη και οι χιονούρες βοηθούν να γίνει η φωτογραφία ακόμα πλουσιότερη! Το V που σχηματίζουν οι κατάφυτες πλαγιές είναι κι αυτό ένα από τα ατού της. Το σημείο λήψης ιδανικό που πραγματικά σε απογειώνει!

Rien ne vaut la force de l'amour de l'homme pour sa terre, sa forêt, ses fleuves, ses montagnes, ses rochers, ses arbres, ses oiseaux, ses pierres.
