This mud flooding occurred when in 2006, PT LAPINDO (Local Natural Gas Mining Company) had drilling the new natural gas site near Sidoarjo residential area. Unfortunately, the drill hand was broken because there is an earthquake in Yogyakarta (about 105 mil from the site).
The leakage occured because the driller didn't use standard double protection pipe. And of course the natural gas shout out with the mud to the earth face. Until now, it is still become debate in Law Court about the cause of this matter between natural disaster or human error.
Until now (2009), the mud still flooding and occupy and sinking the nearest village (creating 1+ km of big muddy lake).
The government and local scientific still unsure about the solving techniques. There is a lot of world scientific that don't know how to overcome this event.
