A great news for me ... Today the Dolomites have been inscribed in the UNESCO's World Heritage List.

The picture shows of the most famous Dolomite peaks CRODA DA LAGO (2.709 m) from Passo Falzarego near Cortina.

Great news indeed, Andrea. I think your title could be upped to the superlative -- "The most beautiful mountains." The superb light and colors in your dramatic and beautifully composed photo certainly do the mountains justice. Did you climb to your vantage point?

I like this picture. These mountains are very beautiful, of course, but your composition is very good too. You played with the diagonals and the contrast between the areas in the shadow and the others area in the beautiful light.

L'Unesco ti da ragione. Ecco dunque le Dolomiti figurare fra gli spazi naturali piu' preziosi del pianeta, a fianco a Yellostone, Yosemite o il Grand Canyon, e portare all'Italia un "bollino" importante (nessun massiccio montuoso italiano era compreso nella famosa lista, e persino la Svizzera ha un unico sito montuoso segnalato: le alpi della Jungfrau col ghiacciaio dell'Alesch). Ma questo non c'entra con la foto che, simile nel titolo e nell'inquadratura a un'altra celebratissima tua, ne costituisce un'interessante variante, che esalta in questo caso la linea diagonale e, anche senza un piano ravvicinato, presenta un bel susseguirsi di piani prospettici in profondità.

dai e dai con le tua foto hai convinto l'UNESCO che era ora di darsi una mossa!
Nonostante il cielo non proprio favorevolissimo, qui la fortissima diagonale caratterizza benissimo la composizione. I colori probabilmente erano proprio cosi', ma un pochino di saturazione sui verdi la poteva rendere ulteriormente accattivante. Dario.

davvero una grande notizia, strano che non ci fossero già nella lista. tu ce le sai sempre mostrare al meglio, ho tantissima voglia di vederle, spero di riuscirci presto. ottima composizione. Per il titolo sarebbe più corretto "the most beautiful mountains" essendo superlativo assoluto ;)

a guardare questa foto, e non solo questa, mi stupisco che questa iscrizione dell'UNESCO sia giunta solo ora. Ho viaggiato un po' in diverse parti del mondo, ma di montagne come le dolomiti ne ho incontrate poche.
