Photographer’s Note
Taken in a less traveled to region of Cairo, the people in this alley of outdoor life were intruiged by my presence. It's a poor part of the city, and you can tell that by the dirty clothes and skin, and the cuts on the boy's face. But these people were so happy and full of laughter once they got into the concept of having a photo taken - this is one of the few shots with a non smiling expression. The hand belongs to a friendly man who is a worker on the street here.

Hi Dave,
A gut wrenching image, it reminds me of the plight of small children on Aboriginal lands here in Australia.
Thought provoking image you've captured. I hope that 2 seconds after you snapped this, he was smiling and laughing.
Cheers

Hi David,
Nice picture you've got there. See I tend to have an alternative take on the concept of 'poverty' that we have in the west. Coming from Pakistan and being back there a few times. I find the 'poverty' stricken areas brimming with life and laughter and thats why I say that you've got a nice picture there...better than the one I may take in my street.
Thanks for sharing
