Photographer’s Note
Last night saw some nice storms here on the Isle of Wight. There was loads of lightning coming from so many areas which made it difficult to decide which part of the storm to concentrate on!
I have always wanted to capture lightning at this location and i have been waiting since 2005 for it to happen, but at last it did and i am quite happy with the result.
I used no filters of any kind, this was processed from RAW with no white balance adjustment.

Just excellent!
You captured this in an extraordinary way, and the storm must have been pretty active to give you so many lighting strikes on one exposure.
My only nits are cosmetic: I'd try to get rid (the cloning tool) of the cable which seems to form a platform for the lightning, and also of the whitish "pole" (antenna?) behind the gnarled tree in the LLC.
Apart from that... print big and hang right in the middle of your most visible wall!
Cheers,
Olivier

Hello Jamie,
You done well in this shot.
With the lighthouse lit up also the other buildings, is a good shot, but the lightning is a great bonus for you. Good focus and clarity.
I also would love to capture the live lightning sometime?.
We do not seem to have too often around my area.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Jamie,
wonderful capture indeed...those lightnings are excellent. I like the composition too. One little pick though...the lights at the bottom are a bit too bright, they kind of take your attention away from the rest....Still, I do like your shot very much.

Hi Jamie,
Wonderful lightning picture ! The composition is very well balanced, with the lighthouse very well placed. The colours of the sky are outstanding. Just a shame there is this cable going from the lighthouse to the left.

Hi Jamie,
Splendid capture of the spectacle of light! Three light source are perfectly balanced. Do you use a lightning sensor in such a situation?
An amazing result. Congratulations upon your success, it's worth having waited for four years.
Have a nice weekend, Hisashi

hi Jamie,
I'm green with envy, looks like everyone is getting great lightning shots, except me (just look at this lucky shot by Kristaps). as you can imagine, I am really looking forward the next big storm :)
love the photo, especially the strong colours in the sky, I find they emphasise the hellish mood. and the light from the lighthouse! just the right detail to add to the "end of the world" feeling. I agree about the cable, but for me that is not a major point. great shot, my compliments.
best,
Kristine

Hello Jamie,
A fantastic spectacle with light so well managed and captured. A fine composition too with the horizontal beam of the lighthouse contrasqting with the verticala lightning strokes.

Hi.
I'm happy your patience has been rewarded. The photo is stunning. Usually, when I see photos with lightnings I have an impression they are more or less accidental shots. Not in this case. You had much time to compose the cadre and when the right moment came you were ready.
Thanks for sharing.

Piotr
