Photographer’s Note
Rame Head lies in the far south east of cornwall, guarding the western aproach to Plymouth sound & is a beautiful place in most weather, but I find it most dramatic & wild in stormy weather, as here. The chapel on the crest is first recorded in 1397 as a hermitage but flints found indicate the earliest occupation was neolithic. Bronze age ramparts form part of what may be continous occupation for over 1000 years. The head was used as a look out during the Spanish Armada & was the site of anti aircraft & shipping guns during WW1 & WW2.
