Photographer’s Note

While out driving in Paw Paw Michigan, I came across this setting. There are a number of things that I liked about this picture. First the sky, you can see both stratus and cumulus clouds. The grape vines were just starting to really grow. In the back a nice bunch of trees.

Paw Paw is a quaint rural location whose primary agricultural product is grapes, which are used both in the local Michigan wine industry and for juice and jellies. The St. Julian Winery and Warner Vineyard started in Paw Paw. Paw Paw has an annual Wine and Harvest Festival, which traditionally occurs the weekend following Labor Day. The Festival features a beer tent, bandstand, live music, a popular grape stomping competition among barefoot locals, carnival foods, and fireworks over scenic Maple Lake. Fine dining establishments in the Theater District cater to attendees of the Festival.

Paw Paw is named for the pawpaw trees which once grew along the Paw Paw River. Lying in the heart of Michigan’s grape country, Paw Paw’s natural majestic beauty is hard to beat. The combination of its rural grace and its many vineyards make Paw Paw a prime destination for country lovers and wine aficionados alike, who can enjoy fruit-picking as well as winery tours and tastings.

A lovely village, Paw Paw has withstood the test of time by retaining its untouched charm. Be it a sweeping farmstead or a rustic cottage, real estate options are special in their simple seductiveness and, enticingly, are more affordable than properties found further west towards Lake Michigan.
