Photographer’s Note
Neither. This is just stormy weather conditions in the Amargosa Desert (part of the Mojave Desert), somewhere off the US Route 95 (Veterans Memorial Highway), from Las Vegas to Tonopah, Nevada.
I recalled an atomic blast because this is on the edge of the Nevada Test Site [_*_] and Nellis Test and Training Range [_*_]. Since 1951 there were 925 announced nuclear tests at Nevada Test Site, including atmospheric atomic detonations. Seismic data has indicated many unannounced underground tests.
Nevada is also famous for sightings of UFO (Unnidentified Flying Objects) and conspiracy theories, especially related to the secret military base nicknamed as Area 51 [_*_], within the Nevada Test and Training Range.
In fact, there can be a UFO in my photo: in the darker zone at right, between the white cloud and the pole, there are a few red pixels. I believe that it is not a UFO, but with my low expertize in digital photo, I can not explain the red dot; can you? How does appear red pixels on a blue background. In workshop I post that area in 200% size.
This photo was shot 18 minutes after the photo This is not Cape Verde and 15 minutes after the Overcast Brothel, northbound on the same US Route 95, but I'm not sure of the precise place and distances.
Approximate location of the photo in WikiMapia: 36.6316597, -116.3239288.
See the aliens in my next post.

Francisco, Dramatic weather photo! I like how the telephone lines give the composition scale. Bill D.

We saw these too during our short trip to Utah a moth ago. I called them "cloud hair".
An impressive moment captured.

Amicalement.
Marie Louise.

Ola Francisco,
I could not resiit this dramatic cloud and light show although ususally I find your photos of Portugal much more interesting and informative. I remember the Brothel and Not Cape Verde and I like this one best. The way the cloud sweeps up the hillside into the main body makes me think of an alien ship leaving.
Sorry I'm so slow replying,

Hello Francisco,
That's a really nice sky. I always think that what you can see in the sky, storm, big cloud, the wind ... is the most spectacular view you can find. Your picture deserve it. This "atomic blast" is impressive and you get some perfect colors.
Regards, Eric.
