Photographer’s Note
I took this picture from my very first trip to Nepal. I used my favorite point and shoot SONY camera DSC N1.
I was having my tea inside the lodge at the Machapuchare base camp when I saw four people walking up that little hill. I grabbed my camera and took picture of them. I was actually waiting for anything ( goat will do ) to pass by the hill to show the scale of the mountain.
One picture that remain one of few pictures that haunt me and made me going back to Nepal again and again.

An amazing point of view here from your lodge looking out at this magnificent mountain. Definetly a brooding and forbidding feel but equally stunning in beauty. The dark, snow-capped mountain together with the tiny hikers makes for a great photo! Very nicely done.

Hello,
Very interesting capture. This mountain is so huge... I like this composition because it shows how meaningful we are in confrontation with nature. Great POV and very good sharpness. I like this mist rising over the valley. Very impressive image. Congratulations.
Greetings

It DOES look impressive, Artesia. Because of the overwhelming scenery, of course, in which the human beings really look small: the sense of scale you are talking about in your note... Another aspect that adds to the impressiveness, is that it looks like a black and white photo (though it obviously isn't - see your photo info: "colour"). Anyway, the combination of dark grey tones and greyish white tones works.
I'm just not convinced about your framing. It "frustrates" me somehow that you didn't (couldn't?) include the top of the mountain. If it was technically impossible to do so, I would have quite severely cropped the top of the photo (by +/- 4 cm), as to only show the "wall of rocks", without any sky or landscape beyond the first mountains to be seen. This would make your photo more coherent (because less "frustrating") and still more impressive, I think.
Anyway, this is just my personal opinion. Feel free to (dis)agree ;o)
TFS & kind regards,
Erik

Hello again Artesia,
could not bypass this photo. Mountains is one of my life passions. Your photograph captured a very beautiful scene especially with 4 people in the foreground. Strength and enormous power of Mother Nature is clearly stated here. Also, your B&W option fits perfectly into composition.
Thanks for sharing this beauty!
Cheers,
Mike

Well done to emphasis the scale of the mountain with these people.
I am planning to visit Nepal next year. Can't wait!!!
