Photographer’s Note
Reposted 20 Jun 09: A recent rescan with improved hardware and techniques brings out a great deal more color in the highlights and improves overall richness of tonality. The slight remaining haziness is due to the light rain.
Though I spent most of my free time in Hamamatsu knocking about the vicinity of Act City and the train station, on this night I roamed a bit further afield. This shot was taken from a bus stop a few blocks north of the city center. Fortunately it was somewhat sheltered, as light rain fell most of the evening, creating a lovely uplight reflecting off the wet streets. A few blocks to the west of here (or NW of the train station) is a fascinating district of pedestrian-friendly narrow streets with bistros, clubs, and boutiques.
