Photographers Note
Old windmill is a post mill (koźlak) and its history dates back to 1603. This date can be seen on a beam on which the construction moves around. Thanks to that date we are able to confirm that it is one of the oldest working mills in Poland. Over the course of the years, and consequently wear and tear, other elements have been replaced. Beams from the trestle's support come from 1733 and the wallower is dated for 1744. In 1857 the upright shaft was strengthened and in 1902 the windmill was moved from Sława Śląska to Wroniawy, where it was equipped with new millstones from a famous stonemason's workshop in Nowa Sól. Two years later it was handed over to the Przybecki family, which owned it until 1979. Subsequently it was bought by the Regional Museum in Wolsztyn and in 1998, already on the open-air ethnographic museum's premises, it regained its previous efficiency with the help of the last owner and professionalism of carpenters from Nowy Targ.
A windmill is basically such a sophisticated construction that all attempts to present it should be abandoned. On the other side, it seems to be so interesting that it is hard not to say something about it. Windmills contain in one unit both a fixed part as well as a rotating one. The methods of rotating towards a wind are the main criteria of the windmills' classification. We can identify 3 types: a post mill (koźlak) - the whole buck of the mill mounted on a single fixed vertical post revolves; a tower mill (koźle, wieżowiec also holender) - only the timber cap mounted on a fixed cylindrical tower revolves and a paltrok mill - the whole building rotates on circular rails.

Ciao Malgorzata
The colors are wonderful. I like these beautiful colors of wood. Contrast with the blue sky and green grass is fantastic.
But I regret the presence of the character in bottom on the right.
Have a nice WE,

Witaj Malgorzata,
Competing with our Dutch friends? :D This windmill isn't less attractive than any of their Dutch relatives and you present it wonderfully with a fine POV and amazing clarity and colours. I guess you were not alone taking photos of it and the inclusion of you "competitor" on the corner is interesting, although I'd prefer that she wasn't cropped.

Witam!
Pozdrawiam serdecznie

Hello Malgorzata,
A superior note for an excellent photograph. I like the angle that you've chosen, showing two full sides, although the strong sunlight gives rise to such disparity in light and shadows. Four hundred years is a long time for this edifice to have functioned! I imagine this would be a sensational view also after a snowfall.
Warm regards,

Hi Maggie,
Beatuiful image, waht a lovely day, perfect weather with just a couple of clouds to enhanced the composition. Colors are so beuatiful, I like the how the light cast a really good shadows and give great depth and demension to the windmill. Just lovely.
Yes, it is sad to see some old friends go, but new one are being made.

Ciao Malgorzata,
your composition is quite classic, almost trivial, but the result is far from trivial. The extremely bright and clear atmosphere adds a touch of great freshness. Comparing the windmill with the persons in the background, it appears not enormous, isn't it? My idea of windmills are that of a huge building, while this seems to be small and cute. Thanks for posting, Dario.

Hi Malgorzata,
Polish windmills look so different from the ones I know. They are indeed interesting structures that caught my attention while driving the Polish countryside. Your image is clear and sharp. The light make this scene alive, giving it excellent colours as well. Framing is very good as even the lady on the right does not distract attention from the windmill. I really miss Poland :-)
