Photographer’s Note
Mt. Benson overlooks Nanaimo. the climb to the peak is a great workout, taking average of 4-5 hours return.
The white-haired man in the foreground is "Gordie", the man who created many of the mountain hiking trails in this part of Vancouver Island. I was surprised he can still get to the top of this mountain given his age.
In this image, he's relating stories of the birds (mostly ravens), the snowfalls, the logging roads, flowers, and the people he blazed paths with.
In the background is a logged-out patch near Lucid Lake, on the west side of the mountain.
