Photographer’s Note
June 19th...
This is the 64th birthday of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, today. But still under house arrest, how is it possible to enjoy a birthday...?
Picture taken in a pick-up. The resemblance of this woman with Aung San Suu Kyi and her dignity appearance have hit me. While the other women were chitchating loudly, she was remaining silent. Her attitude was such a mixture of pride and humility, I was fascinated. And I began to dream that it was really HER, travelling incognito in this pick up...
Free again...

19 juin...
A nouveau libre...

Hi Marine,
Thanks for posting the picture of one of the most famous political prisoners. It's a timely wake-up call to the world community to get Burma's junta to release all its political prisoners.
Despite using available light your shot is adequately sharp and has pastel colors. Well done.
Best regards
Urs

Hey Marine, for a moment I thought you actually met her! till I read your note and discovered it was not. This is a well poised and a well captured image

Marine
Amicalement

Hello again Marine
Yes, there is a great resemblance of her from the picture that we saw. She also reminded me a little of my mother, I will not go too much into details on that for it’s very emotional for me.
But I like her calm and peaceful and a little sad expression. Very gentle, elegant, and kind. Quality of the shot not the best due to the difficult light and confine space, but the essence of her personality really well depicted and well observed. Thanks.
I'll be back to look at the butterfly.

Hello Marine,
I too thought from the thumbnail that this really was Aung San Suu Kyi. You're right that the resemblance is really in the woman's grace and dignity. Well seen and thank you for giving us another opportunity to express our support.
Regards,
Mary
