Rachaprasong Traffic Jam Photo

Photographer’s Note

That is one of Bangkok's daily mega traffic jams right in the middle of the Thai capital. From early morning to late evening motor vehicles often stand here like there were parked. So everybody jokes, that the roads are for parking and not driving. On the left side is the very modern Central World Trade Center and at the right side is the Big C Supermarket - that's the infamous Rachaprasong crossing where you have all the high class shopping centers. Happy waiting in your car!

This is Bangkok for you. I was then only once long time ago and I was impressed with the traffic and the level of pollution. Other than the International Airport I have no plans to go there.
I love the beautiful colours in the picture and the good POV over the road. Well done.

Hi Urs,
Maybe I am too biased because I have a fascination for this bustling town, but I like it very much and I find it most interesting not only as a documentary of the crazy traffic and the look of the new main streets, but also for the colours, to which the cars contribute much.
It reminds at least two situations I had there: one was crossing by foot the big avenue near Khao San and the Sanam Luang park, something that was a real adventure and once took me 40 minutes; another one was getting a taxi or tuk-tuk at rush hour - the few unoccupied ones simply refuse to take us because of the traffic no matter the money we offered.

And I thought traffic jams in BKK was a thing of the past! Perspective of the cars is nice...a nice documentary photo of daily life!

Hi Urs,

Very good shot of the famous jam in Bangkok. I remembered seeing children getting in their uniforms in the car while stucked in the jam. There is even time for them to open the trunk and get their breakfast on the way to school. Superb image and very good depth and details.

I like it and well done.

Quite exotical city view for me, specially because it was taken in the other side of the Globe, in a faraway land, from which we don't get too much information about! With suitable sharpness, correct exposure, naturally saturated and beautiful colors, you show us all that modern life goes on around there too!

je suis impressionné par cette circulation et on peut dire que le point de vue que tu as chosi est parlant.
Une floppée de taxis montre que les tra,sports en commun fonctionnent bien.
Des files de voitures presque parfaites.

Hi Urs,

Usually traffic is not interesting but this shot is. I like all the cars and colours. The pink taxi's really stand out. Good wide shot of the street and the sides. Good depth of field. The sky seems somewhat overexposed but otherwise a great photo.
