Photographer’s Note

The bustling Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria - the big market in the middle of Las Ramblas, in the centre of Barcelona.

This shot was taken from the upstairs window of the building across the street (actually it was the Museum of Erotica, but don't worry I won't be posting any shots from there!).

Post-processing - slight increase of contrast, cropping and removal of some slight tilt.

A good downwards point of view on this busy market, which also captures some of the interesting architecture. Very good colours and sharpness. The Museum of Erotica sounds rather intriguing ;-)

Hi Leon,
I try to get there at least twice and it was closed. I had really a bad luck, and I like fruit so much.
It seems a really colorful place for photographing as well.

hello leon,
excellent (an interesting!) POV.I like the contrast of colours and light in the foreground and the more muted tones as they eye is lead into the market. Have you taken any more from inside. I visited this market before I got into photography and now wish I had taken some pictures from there. Great market.

Great capture of this busy market, taken from an advantageous POV. You did also a good job with the exposure, avoiding OE in the FG while achieving some detail in the dark interior.

Hi Leon,

You had an excellent vantage point to take this image of the marketplace. Last year in August I was in the Ramblas, but missed seeing this view. It appears like some exotic temple with a strange roof created by the zigzag awning.
