The dark side of the moon Photo

Photographer’s Note

For 20 minutes in the evening and the majestic Kumbalgarh fort glows gold against the dark sky. We sat on an opposite hillock in the cool breeze drinking in the sight. However, after 20 mins once the lights are turned off, and with the absence of the moon, we had to climb down the wall and walk the dark road back to the hotel.

(I dedicate this image to Henk Meijer (Floydian), not only a great photographer but a very active member of TE. Henk deleted his account in the wake of the murky copyright laws here.)

I really like that "snake" shot, the fort winding its way down to the valley. Very sharp and detailed. Brilliant.

I just read your comment about copyright. As far as I understand, the pictures posted at this side are way too small to be used by others e.g. none of the picture can be published in print media. So what is it all about? I only joined recently and some of the pictures I have posted so far have been published in magazines and weeklies. Perhaps you can explain me, why obviously some members left.

Great shot, the surrounding black out makes the details of the city fort stand out really well. The position within the frame and compo is great, if you ask me, but it would be even more impressive in a square print with even more black above and below. Might be worth a try...

how I like this curved line of enlightened ramparts in the total black,the effect is wonderful,fairy-like!You had found a splendid POV,and you have perfectly framed,with the line going from the corner to the opposite corner!Splendid!

Its a shame & a loss for this site that Henk has decided to shut his account...& he's not alone, Peter & Igor as well!...thus far I know! A fantastic image of the fort at night, crspness is excellent & like how the diagonal splits two walls of darkness.

Hey Elaine - nice photo! It's really unique and original, and very effective. I love the diagonal line cutting through the frame like fire or lava on the black b/g.

great diagonal formed by the castle, exposure was well controlled, avoiding OE the small lit areas in the predominatly dark image, well done - looks like an interesting site, how did I miss this treat when I was there??? cheers, Steve

Fascinating orginal cityview/graphic patttern, and nicely framed more or less following the diagonal.

What a coincidence, you being in the Bangkok Sheraton (yes?) just a few days after us.

I guess one day we'll bump into each other in some unlikely place.

In January I was in HKG at the same time as Miguel, we made phone contact, but didn't have time to meet before our planes.

Tijdens het zoeken via Google kwam ik deze foto tegen...wow, ik wist niet eens dat je dit gedaan had, dankje wel.
Ik ben hier voorgoed weg, kon niet langer leven met het beleid hier, maar als ik dan zoiets zie dan besef ik eens te meer hoe mooi de TE community was......dankje wel..!!!
