Rock Goblins: A Warning
Llantwit Major, Vale of Glamorgan, Wales
Exploring the Limestone Pavement at Llantwit Major can be a entertaining way to spend a few hours but, a word of warning, if only to protect your sandwiches, and maybe more: Rock Goblins! Keep your eyes and ears peeled. Maybe a sound like a dog approaching, when there's no dog to be seen; or a rustling behind the rocks when you're unable to find the crisps you thought you'd brought along!
Of course, you'd be lucky to see one, moving, in the flesh. If disturbed they simply melt in the rock, taking on the appearance of scratches, cracks and lichens, frozen until the coast is clear - so to speak - but still somewhat visible to those with a keen eye - caught in the act of sliding over the boulders towards my rucksack. The little rascal.

Hallo Colin!
An interesting, amazing and intriguing photo, a real eyecatcher. These lichens are wonderful. In combination with your excellent witty note - or is it meant serious? - a wonderful and allover worth-seeing/reading contribution here! Great! I've learnt something ...

Hi Colin,
Judging by the shape of this smashed Goblin, I'd say the little rascal went through a good whacking! But at least it makes for a good graphic mineral shot.

Poor little rock goblin! He has such a great expression of shock and desperation... looks like he was so close to getting your crisps and failed at the very last moment. I can see the disappointment in his face, the horrible realization that you caught him red-handed! The POV you have on the goblin, and the bit of blurred rocks at the back for scale, are also excellent.
I hope you at least left a snack for him as a thank-you for posing so cooperatively for your photo! :)

hello Colin,
imaginative and creative, your picture and notes have made me smile. I admire your eye for small detail, detail most of us would overlook. That's sign of a good photographer, being able to see possiblities. in the ordinary.I like your close POV and the light, colours and textures.
