Photographer’s Note
On a fine sunny afternoon last week, I caught this picture of Tinto Hill, the highest hill in Lanarkshire at 2320 feet above sea level.
This time, shot from the south near the little village of Wiston with a foreground of a field of buttercups.
Google Earth appears to be improving in this area and you can see the place quite well if you click on Map:[view].
Shot in RAW using a polarising filter and converted and edited in PSE6.

Hello John,
Another shot of your beloved Tinto hill. And what a fine one it is! One almost expects the camera to zoom in on Julie Andrews as she bursts into song – "The hills are alive……………………….."!
An excellent composition – the little house gives us an idea of the scale of the mountain and plays an important part in the middle ground of the picture.
A lovely sky with those puffy white clouds, and superb colours throughout, with just the right degree of saturation.
I read your recent critique remarks on HDR images with great interest and total agreement.
I too am slowly coming to terms with the new layout of TE – I have no complaints about the advertising though, as with Firefox and the adblock plug in, I never see any!
I've not been very active in posting and critiquing lately, but I do keep track of the postings you and my other favourites upload, through the email alert system.
Kind regards,
Peter.

Hi John.
Just took another look at your gallery, and about time it was.
I like this one, it's quite breathtaking, really. The low viewpoint, the carpet of buttercups, and the portrait orientation, give this relatively small mountain a strong sense of verticality - if there can be such a word! The clouds almost float out of the screen, and the white house is the subtly placed focal point. Great work.
Regards,
Andrew
