Photographer’s Note

The Black Madonna of Czestochowa (Czarna Madonna or Matka Boska Czestochowska in Polish) is a holy icon of the Virgin Mary, that is both Poland's holiest relic and one of the country's national symbols.
The origins of the icon and the date of its composition are still hotly contested among scholars. The difficulty in dating the icon stems from the fact that the original image was painted over after being badly damaged by Hussite raiders in 1430. Medieval restorers unfamiliar with the encaustic method found that the paints they applied to the damaged areas "simply sloughed off the image" according to the medieval chronicler Risinius, and their solution was to erase the original image and to repaint it on the original panel, which was believed to be holy because of its legendary origin as a table top from the home of the Holy Family. The painting displays a traditional composition well-known in the icons of Eastern Orthodoxy. The Virgin Mary is shown as the "Hodegetria" ("One Who Shows the Way"). In it the Virgin directs attention away from herself, gesturing toward Jesus as the source of salvation.
The Black Madonna is credited with miraculously saving the monastery of Jasna Góra from a 17th century Swedish invasion, which actually changed the course of the war. This event led King Jan Kazimierz to "crown" Our Lady of Czestochowa as Queen and Protector of Poland in the cathedral of Lwów on April 1, 1656.

e baska fotograf yok diyordun..o zaman bu ne?
hep madonna'ya hayranlikla bakılacak degil ya,bu sefer de sanki o bir seylere hayran hayran bakiyormus gibi...ondeki adamcagizin ise madonna'dan falan haberi yok gibi...garibim)))

I appreciate that you arrest the view of modern pictures with the glance of one of intellectual! Exceptional collation and thought.
(The term 'Hodegetria' is Greek and translates to 'the One who Shows the Way'. In this icon, although the Virgin Mary is the largest subject, the principal image in the icon is Christ. "czarna madonna" lafını polonez'den duyup aramıştım zamanında. nihayet yerinden, bu terimi hak eden bir foto :)
üstteki framework mimari AKM'yi çağrıştırıyor, kadın da Warhol'u, adamın burnu da tanıdık ama çıkartamadım. doktordan az kullanılmış, temiz bir günlik hayat grafiği daha... ama hala tuz madeni ve kamplardan gelecek bombaları bekliyorum...

Zengin malumatli notunuz bu fotografa müthis deger vermis. Black Madonna'nin ismini duymustum, fakat simdi anliyabildim. Krako'nun benim için en mühim tarafi, Czartoryscki Müzesin'de Leonardo'nun en güzel tablolarinin birinin bulunmasi (Lady with an Ermine).

Koskoca Krakow'a gidip sadece 2 fotoğrafla döndüğüne inanamıyorum, inanmak da istemiyorum. TE'nin yeni yüzü seni fotoğraf çekmekten de soğutmadı herhalde di mi???
Genel tarzının dışında bir deneme olmuş. Ama hep demişimdir Korkut asortik açıları da dener, farklı yaklaşımlar geliştirir diye... Demiş miyimdir acaba hiç? Neyse demediysem de dedim :)
Madonna'nın parlaklığını ve ön tarafla kontrastını sevdim de adamı bir adım geride ağzı kadınceyizin gözünü kapatmadan önce yakalayaydın ya, di mi ama?
