Photographer's Note
2 weeks ago I was in Etna. By going around there I went up to the North station. This station has been devastated in 2003 by a lava flow which stretched over more than 4 km. You can see on the photograph the crater which is in origin, it is fair in the middle towards right, with a stain of snow underneath. The lava went downhill across the forest and cut the road in several places. This one was entirely done again. But the forest will take more time to grow back. There remain many trunks which survived the passage of the lava. But trees died.
