Photographer’s Note
This is a view of the Achyuta Raya Temple seen from Matanga Hill, Hampi, southern India. Hampi was the capital of the great Vijayanagara empire from around 1336 to 1565 until it was destroyed by Muslim invaders.
This golden brown, boulder stewn landscape is typical of Hampi. Matanga Hill is considered the best place to photograph Hampi especially at either sunrise or sunset but unfortunately I was unable to make it up here then.
