Photographer’s Note
Laguna Manialtepec is a 20 to 30 minute drive from Puerto Escondido. The name Manialtepec comes from the Náhuatl words manine (an animal that crawls) and tepetl (place); thus, 'manialtepec' is interpreted as 'the place of lizards. It's a great place to see birds, kayak or just relax.

hi Daniel
Very nice reflection of this lake side view. The light is well captured to show such a lovely scenery.

Hello Daniel,
I toured the lagoon in 1998 and recognized it immediately in the thumbnail. Given that this is a picture of fairly ubiquitous red mangroves, that is a pretty big compliment! I think it's the particular quality of the light that you captured so well. I hope the local people are continuing to manage and benefit from this wonderful sanctuary.
Thank you,
Mary
