Photographer’s Note
My buddy and I resolved to get up early after a cold night camping out to see sunrise over Yosemite Falls. This shot was taken before sunlight impinged directly on the waterfall.
P/S: Thank you guys for the constructive suggestions. I have worked on a sharpened version. A re-post has been done.

The misty blue background and the falls is pretty effective in this shot - as is the overal composition - but it's a pity that the foreground tree isn't sharperor better defined - this would have made the shot really fly!
As it is, the thumbnail probably shows more promise than the shot at full size.
Nevertheless, a nice idea - nd welcome to the site!
Cheers

Hi SCI,
Despite an effective blurred forefront, I like very much this composition by itself ( theme, colours , wildness ).
Welcome to TE !

Hi SCI, welcome to TE. This is a great idea to let the sun shine on the tree. The combination of the blue waterfall and the green tree is just wonderful. Thanks for sharing. Kind regards, Michael

hi Seb
I think this tree blur is not good because we are also unable to see clearly on the waterfall. Overall the photo is not working to convey a good image.
You either focus on the waterfall and produce a sharp detail of it, or include the tree and up the f/16 to get better dof.

I agree with Bill, you need to have something in focus or use a high aperture stop like f22 or f32 to get a wide DOF. Welcome to TE and keep on posting.

Hello Seb,
First of all, welcome to TE.
AS it has already been noted, it is true that the lack of sharpness on the foreground tree is curious at first sight. But I like a lot the difference between the morning light striking the tree and the falls still in the light dark.
For me, the atmosphere of this shot is a success and gives an original point of view on these superb falls.
Well done, it deserved an early wake up ;-)
Have a nice day.
Best regards, Christian

Hello Seb,
Welcome on board in TE.
Nice view here with a scale effect thanks to the tree in foreground and the fall in background. The opposition is also increased by the color tones of both.
Of course the photo is a bit unsharp as already written. It is due by the downgrading of the size which induces lost of sharpness in the small details of the photo. Each downsizing must be followed by a sharp mask to overcome this. It will be for the next posts.
Yves.

Hello Seb, it is a bit unsharp but the composition is great and the light too. A very good start !
