Photographer’s Note
back from a recent one week trip to japan. not much sightseeing, only about 1 1/2 days in total (i really wish i could travel around more, seems like every time i visit it's for some other reason). francis my local "tour guide" recommended the neighborhood around shinjuku and boy what a place for night photography! thank you again.
these clubs cater to lonely/bored/excitement and entertainment seeking women (of all ages it seemed) where they can be treated like a lady (whatever that exactly means :)...) by young good looking men, all (and i mean all) wearing pointy shoes (is it still called a witch boot if a man wears it?)...

Hello Mark,
I like the subject that you chose for this photo. There are lots of little bizarre details: the pointy shoes (that you pointed out!), the poodle on the sidewalk, all of the headshots surrounded by the neon lights. Personally, I find the stray feet that are poking into the left side of the frame a bit distracting, and also the fact that the man in the foreground has his head a bit chopped off, but I don't know the circumstances. Maybe you had to shoot quickly. Anyway, I like it. :-)

funny and very japanese scene. eyecatcher. my only gripe is that you cut the fellow's head so we miss seeing his pompadour ;-)
cheers,
Cristian

Nice one, Mark! You really captured the mood in Kabukicho that night... Nice mixed ligting and all - cropping a little tight on top maybe... but nice!
