Photographer’s Note
Traveling to work is is a common occurrence these days, but even when your job includes flying or maintaining fighter jets that commute can be unbelievably boring ans the miles tick slowly by below the belly of the Hercules...

Hi Greg
The daily grind, no matter how exciting can appear to others is rearly attractive to the people that experience it on a daily basis. Nice b/w to express feeling and very nice play of light and shadows. Hercules is certainly a great one and has been around for quite a while.
Have a good day and TFS

Hello Greg,
It is quite fun to follow your posts. We passed from fishing in a river to fly over the clouds in a big plane.
This B&W is interesting because giving a feeling of witness, reporter.
I wonder what looks like the color version. Could you please put it in WS? It could be interesting to see the benefit of the B&W.
Yves.

Hi Greg. This looks like something you and I have both experienced, including the maintenance of fast jets. This photo brings back the memories. Good use of BW and nice handling of light. Thanks or sharing.
Cheers, Paul.

Hi Greg,
good choice of b&w here making the composition looks like coming from the 60s. I like the scene where some soldiers are looking their checklist and the one on the left the newspaper ;-)
Cheers,
Edi

Hi Greg,
It's the kind of photo I'd expect to see in a magazine with very high photo standards, like Time or Newsweek. One can feel the boredom in the air and the light is amazingly well controlled and it's a key factor to make so achieved. It's well framed, but I'd prefer that the sleeping man on the left wasn't cropped.

José

Hi Greg!!
Great capture...reminds those of 50´s, a great light management and cadrage of this "men at work". Perfect option to post in B&W, one of your best capture, IMHO..
Have a nice week end...

Hola Greg
Buen trabajo.
Y gracias por el comentario.
Un saludo Antonio

wow. I mean - WOW! what a shot! why have you been hiding your skills as a photo journalist? I think this is a great shot, Greg, I really do. not only the light management is perfect - just look at that ray of light, absolutely perfect, but also the mood, the story. as others have noted, it is obvious that for these men such a flight is as routine as bus ride for the most of us, and you have captured all these emotions very well. also, it must've been very difficult to have all the surrounding details without getting just a simple chaos, but B&W works really well to avoid the mess. great, just great.
now I hope to see more photos like this :)

Kristine

Hi Greg,
Very interesting, because this is normally not your style and i have to admit the quality is very good. That ray of sunlight was is coming in throught that window is perfect. It lightens up the man his face and things he holds in his hands while the rest of the crew is maybe bored to death, the picture holds a lot of things inside that looks interesting enough to keep our attention. Excellent conversion to b&w, you did very well here....

Henk

hi greg. i find this one very appealing. despite the stillness of the men, the atmosphere is very busy with a a lot for the viewer's eyes to explore. as a plus, it sure is a scene we do not see every day. henk has already noted that the b&w translation is very good.
my compliments

Hello Greg,
very emotional scene - mainly because of B&W, I guess. I looks like a scene from WW2. The colour WS version does not produce this impression, though! I like both, anyway: they convey different moods.

Good picture Greg, interesting use of the B&W in this one where the spot light creates a great atmosphere.
I suppose that this is part of your real life at work, so thanks for showing it.

Great document, Greg.
This is what's missing on TE...
The 'inside' stories... The photos that are usually unseen before...
Getting to the very stinky guts of the things...
Congratulations, man

Also ( the most important )… It's a 'photography' in there.
Obviously - you know what you're doing..

Hello Greg,
This is great for two reasons!
The situation is unique, and special lighting adds a lot to the atmosphere...
Great composition too, B&W is just right with the superb details!

Hi Greg,
The b&w format is special here because of the light coming through the window.
I love the somber mood of this photo and am curious how you were found on this transport?

Hello Greg,
Like someone else pointed out, this picture has an atmosphere of the 1950's. In this case I think your choice of b&w makes a world of a difference. The colors inside a Hercules are not very exciting, now we are able to fully enjoy the details and the fantastic light shining through the window.

Gert

Hello Greg.
The ray of light passing through the large transport aircraft fuselage magically lights up the soldiers' faces.
It's almost an antique painting, reproduced in a beautiful black and white.
TFS, best regards.
