Photographer’s Note

This is Sydney's War Memorial situated at the southern end of Hyde Park (the opposit end to the Archibald Fountain uploaded yesterday).

The building was completed in 1934, designed by C. Bruce Delitt, with the external sculptures and reliefs by Raynor Hoff. It is built in the Art Deco style and is arguably one of our best examples of the style.

It was built to commemorate the Great War but unfortunately as a result of subsequent conflicts, also remembers those who made the supreme sacrifice in all those conflicts.
