the White Cliffs of Dover

This is my third photo from my latest series from England. After two historic landmarks, today a view of the beautiful nature that the county of Kent has to offer: the White Cliffs of Dover, for many travellers the first sight of the UK, when they arrive by ferry from France. This photo was taken a little north of Dover in the village called St Margaret-at-Cliffe.
The White Cliffs of Dover, which reaches up to 106m high are located along the Strait of Dover.

Ja, dit zijn dan de echte white cliffs of Dover. Daarbij vergeleken zijn die van Ramsgate toch wel een beetje surrogaat of in elk geval een beetje lager.

Hi Lars,

What happened to the foreground of this photo? The man and daughter look copied and pasted onto the image as do the wooden dividers and actually the beach itself. The background looks perfectly natural, the rest looks fake. Is it just my eyes?? Very strange looking photo indeed! If it was real I would like it, but this looks computer generated.

Je pense que les côtes Anglaises peuvent s'emboiter avec les côtes Française comme dans un puzzle.
Une image intéressante qui complête celle de Rob.
Cependant il est interdit de construire au pied des falaises pour des raisons de sécurité.

Hello Lars,

This is an excellent presentation of the White Cliffs of Dover, which I've seen twice, both on rainy days. I don't know the village St. Margaret-at Cliffe, however. Did you visit the castle on the hilltop, where tunnels and a headquarters for allied existed, where Churchill had visited?

Hallo, Lars. Inderdaad, het eerste wat de meeste mensen zien als ze in Engeland aankomen. De kliffen komen hier goed uit op de lucht. Het contrast met het groen werkt goed en de mensen op de voorgrond geven een goed idee van de afmetingen.

Very nicely captured scenery, very natural color and light, well balanced composition with the people enjoying the day at the beach. the white cliff is really interesting element with good texture and deatail. The overall sharpness is a little bit soft but perhaps that give it that smooth texture that is very nice also. Have a good night.

It's just so... neat and relaxing... At first sight, I would think that it's pity that the beach doesn't match the wild beauty of the cliffs, but, maybe because the compo is very accomplished, I find the whole image quite nice and the wooden structures on the beach seem to make the photo more curious.
