Photographer’s Note

People think what to do to boost the economy, to motivate people to spend more. My answer is: advertise local touristic attractions, encourage people to travel and send postcards to each other etc. We will learn more about our neighbours, become more tolerant, have more fun and spend more for tickets, food, postcards, souvenirs etc.

I took a new challenge which is trying to present at least one photo from each Irish county. You may check current status of this game looking at the map of Irish counties photographed by me. This upload is from County Laois (pronounced as in "leash"). As of today there are only 13 photos uploaded to TE from this county.

Killenard is a small village situated between the town of Portarlington and the village of Ballybrittas in the northeastern corner of County Laois. The geographical area encompassed by Killenard consists of the townlands of Ballycarroll, Ballybrittas, Rathmiles and Tierhogar.

This photograph presents St John’s Church in Killenard which belongs to Portarlington Parish.

You choose a great POV for this shot. The gates an road lead the to the church. The colorful trees provide nice framing for the shot. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail.

This photo would it not be dealt with HDR?

Hi Mariusz,
I love your "challenge": to show people what they normally wouldn't see in a country so they can really understand the place as a whole. I think that's the mark of a truly passionate traveler :) The photo is, of course, stunning, a lovely little church, not really typical of Ireland in its style, with gorgeous colors and (gasp!) a sunny blue sky! Is it true that the midlands are the place to go for sun? I've heard that; wonder why more people don't take advantage of it.

Hi Mariusz,
A very good idea, you have certainly whetted my appetite to visit this beautiful place.
I like your POV using the open gates as a symbolic gesture of welcome, your composition is first rate, putting the church in the center of the frame focuses all our attention on to it. The gates and trees lining the driveway is the icing on the cake.

Hi Mariusz,
I love the colours of the leaves in this shot, and they frame the church nicely. Good psuedo-HDR effect--it gives the photo a different atmosphere.

Wow przez wielkie "W"! Jak ja latalem po mokrej trawie za kosciolem Ty przylozyles to zdjecie, zanim slonce zaszlo, no i efekt zabojczy. Niebo jest naprawde wspaniale a kolory nieziemskie. Nie wykluczone, ze ja tez ten kosciol kiedys wrzuce z innej strony jako uzupelnienie dla potomnych;). Piekna fota a HDRek to juz wyzsza polka.

Tak w ogole to witaj.
Swietna sprawa z tymi podrozami przez hrabstwa IRL. Zycze powodzenia w kontynuacji projektu i kto wie, moze kiedys sie spotkamy "na szlaku".

Czesc,
otwarta brama jakby zapraszala do wejscia. Ladne kolory lisci, wiosenne. Ten efekt pseudo HDR tak dziwnie ma, ze tworza sie kolorystyczne aureole. Rownowazenie kontrastu nie jest czesto doskonale, szczegolnie widac to na niebie. Program jakby niedopracowany dla takich niby-HDR. Tez mnie to czasem wkurza a na robienie zdjec ze statywu bracketingiem zazwyczaj nie ma czasu.

Witaj, nie byłam w irlandii, to chociaż zobaczę poszczególne hrabstwa u Ciebie. Bardzo ładny mały kościółek, ładnie pokazany, w pieknym świetle i kolorach. Ślicznie też wyglądaja te kolorowe liście. Ostrość tez pierwsza klasa. Pozdrawiam

The trees are made of a blend of nice colours. The sky benhind the church is a great background.Excellent distribution of light. The opened gate is inviting to get in in the yard. Good work!
