The road which helps pilgrims (Budhists and Sikhs) and tourists circum-navigate the Sacred Gurudongmar, North Sikkim, India.

Last time i talked about the Spiritual powers of the lake.

Pilgrims generally after prayers light incense sticks and arrange stones one on top of the other and make their wish.

The stones have a holy significance too and are not disturbed by man.

Some also say at certain points of the lake..this mountain infront seen upside down would resemble Lord Buddha lying down on his back.

More mystical theories on the lake in the next post..where i will share the phenomenon of ice not forming at a particular point in the middle of the lake..the phenomenon that defies the laws of science..!!!

Hi Sayeed,

Well, you are maybe blown away by some windmills, but how i would love to shoot something like this. It's huge, it's majestic, it's eternal snow, it's beautiful and i want to shoot it...peroid..!!!! ;-)
The note explains the path and that's good, but i would leave it out, focus on the water and the snow peaks. The ws is not bad, but than i prefer this one, there the mountain is cut off, while in here he is the dominating factor and right he is...tall and proud he stands above against that wonderful blue crisp dark sky....wish i was there..!!!

a peaceful place
clearly bright blue sky
the river smooth like a mirror and reflect nice blue color.
the road in foreground made an interesting point to this image.
i wish i were there some day too :)

Nice how the pathway leads us into the shot and draws us towards the beautiful snowy mountains accross the smooth waters, although it does seem somewhat unnatural in this natural enviroment. Good clarity.

Ansel Adams says landscape photography is the ultimate test of photography. So you know what that means.

This is marvelous mountain country. Sikkim, I know I want to be there.

Very good sharpness and clarity in this shot, but I agree with floydian on the path. For me, it destroys the natural beauty of this scenery by a man-made path. This high altitude location is a treat.

Another nice image from the feet of the white world, the perspective is excellent on this one and strengthened by the path, high altitude and good exposure guarantee superb contrastes colors. Is Sikkim that region close to Bhutan ?

Sayeed,
what an impressive scenario. The landscape is certainly awe inspiring and it is easily to understand why humans choose this place to express their religious feelings. The whole scene inspires some introspection and soul searching. Your image is very much composed out of this feeling and that makes also understand the inclusion of the path to the left of the image and express it on title. However, additionally to all these considerations I can also look at this as the landscapist and ask myself if the path was absolutely necessary. It certainly would have been a very different image and approach, but maybe following TE's spirit of learning about the world your composition is the better one.

these serie of picture about these mountains is really beautiful!How I would like to come here with the pilgrimms as I did a few days ago to Gaumuck and Tapovan!The landscape with the snowy mountains and the blue lake is majestic and the colours are wondrful!

I almost made it to Sikkim. I was in Darjeeling in midwinter a few years back, and the locals told me conditions are more primitive in Sikkim, than Darj. eg, a bucket of hot water instead of a running water, hot shower. Plus icy, snowbound roads. Good to see what I missed. It's magnificent, too. Tfs!

there are a lot of marvellour landscapes in your gallery and this one is the first that catched my eye. The strong polarization gives a great idea of freshness and highness and so the road joins very well the composition. I would have preferred a bit more sharpness to add even more "freshness" to the subject. Thanks for posting (and the interesting note too..) Dario.
