Middelburg M - XIX Photo

Photographer’s Note

I try for the first time with my bike, happy this is 5 mile of my home, without problems, a lovely trip with a good cup of coffee in the old city Middelburg on the borders of the Netherlands.

During the last week get we much showers with thunderstorm, also last Friday afternoon.
I took this picture between two showers, you can see to the sky the difficult clouds for a nice image.
In middle you can see the old church tower.
Twice in its history the church building was damaged by war and violence.
The first time was in 1581 by the iconoclasm heavy damage.
Only in 1604 the church was again used for worship.
A second time, in the battles of 1944, there was again heavy damage.
In 1936 the church was partially monument.
In 2003, the total protection of church and cemetery

Hi John,

The trees are framing well the houses and the church. The garden in the foreground is creating a depth sense to the photo. The point of view is allowing us to see the details and colors of the houses and of the church tower. Even with the cloudy sky, the light is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Hallo john,

Lekker vette natte kleuren, die passen precies in zo'n soort plaat. Dat grijs/blauw aan de top doet het uitstekend tov van dat groen en het rood van het dak. Prima plaat, vooral aan de kleurkant vind ik hem zeer fraai. Dit soort vette kleurlagen mag ik heel graag zien, vooral dat groen spat van het scherm.
Die lens is zeer fraai he ;-)

Une très belle vue. On s'attarde d'abord sur ces beaux jardins très graphiques et bien entretenus. On découvre ensuite cette maison au toit rouge un peu dissimulée dans les arbres puis on porte le regard sur le colcher. Une ytrès belle composition aux belles couleurs.

Dag, John. Ik ben tevreden te zien dat u weer kunt fietsen en dat u al tamelijk lange afstanden kunt afleggen.
De foto is zeer goed samengesteld met de bomen aan beide kanten om de aandacht te trekken naar de kerktoren. Deze laatste komt zeer goed uit op de grijze lucht en op het rode dak.

De dreigende sfeer van steeds opnieuw overdrijvende felle buien zit prachtig in deze foto.

Hi John!

It's like a painting! Beautiful colours, although in my opinion they look a little over saturated as it's clear from the sky it was a fairly drab day. The composition is interesting to place the red house bang in the centre and I think it perhaps detracts from the rest of the photo. My eyes just keep focusing to the centre and ignoring everything else, so perhaps I would have placed it slightly more off centre, but that's just preference!

John, this is a great shot and the colors are wonderful. The clouds work well in this case and make it much more dramatic a scene that if it were just clear blue I think. It is always great to me to see things survive the ages, these are the roots of what we are. Great work.

Several reds and green hues compensate largely for the grey sky, which doesn't look bad at all here. It's a beautiful place and you present it with a wonderful image. As usual, the compo/POV are first rate.

a beautiful scene with the mansion to be surrounded with all this greenery and trees! I like the trim garden,as the red roof that makes it so eye's catcher.The colours and the light are well managed.

Excellent image! I think I had written earlier, but the quality of your pictures with the 5D camera are simply superb! Like how the tower peeps through the foliage & the green lines in the garden providing a good perspective. Fine work!

Hello John, Glad to hear that you are back on your bike, only a small ride but a very important step. Shooting between showers has given this image a lovely soft light and an interesting contrast between the cold wintry looking sky and the warm red colours of the buildings. Beautiful well cared for garden in FG adds interest to this excellent quality image.
