Photographer’s Note
The scenery is the Southern California, where the fire is merciless, year after year devastating lots of properties, lifes.
I caught these firemen working at San Luis Obispo when I was traveling to Anaheim, where in the next day I did the picture I've already posted, of Disneyland under the brown sky.
Here you can see a plane doing its work and at same time you see some firemen climbing the hill in the left corner. It's not a beautiful photography, but it is a registry of that dramatic days, when many people lost everything around South California. I did this capture from the parking of Madonna Inn, that funny hotel of San Luis Obispo at Hwy.101.

Zeca

Zeca,

Wow, Jose, this is an amazing photo when one begins to grasp fuly what is going on here. Your note is very helpful in this respect. Looking down into the blackened slopes, the abyss, the fire, and that small plane in the midst of such vastness -- it is amazing. Even the black frame is important for this one.
Excellent work!

Hi Jose,
That's a very dramatic photograph. I didn't realise the scale of the shot until I noticed the firemen in the bottom left, wow.
Great timing on catching the airplane bombing the fire with chemicals, it looks like pretty dangerous flying to me.
Excellent reportage, well done.

Hi Jose,
Nice to see you standing beside me today ;-)
The little red dots in the lower left corner are probably firemen, fighting against a huge fire and the place looks lost and deserted after this tragedy for the ones who lived there. Saw on the news the first fires were already there again for this year....seems it never stops in California.
Good documentary shot...intresting work and pov.

Wagner.

Quite an interesting document and reportage of this dramatic event. Besides it being informative I like the good composition with the profile of the hill forming a diagonal and the strong cromatic contrast between the burnt area and the rest.
A good witness.

hi Jose
This is a great perspective view showing the slope and smoke although not much details but really indicates how devastating damage the fire can bring, especially this year again it comes.
A good TE post showing real danger to the environment.

Amazing shot Zeca. A very good photojournalism piece. The extent of wildfire is evident. Too bad CA is having budget problems and will likely cut the jobs of several thousands firefighters. Best regards...

Hi Jose, I really like the addition of the hot red lava in this barron waste landscape it contrasts superbly, the people give great scale & the steam finishes the photo brilliantly, kind regards Wilson,

Ola Jose,
this scene with hills to be burned is unfortunately very common to me as two years before thousand acres of forests and houses were burned.Really a hell scenery.
