Ramsgate by night
Ramsgate is a seaside town on the Isle of Thanet in east Kent, England. It was one of the great English seaside towns of the 19th century and is a member of the ancient confederation of Cinque ports. It has a population of around 40,000. Ramsgate's main attraction is its coastline and its main industries are tourism and fishing. The town has one of the largest marinas on the English south coast and Port Ramsgate has provided cross channel ferries for many years.
Ramsgate began as a fishing and farming hamlet. Ramsgate as a name has its earliest reference as Hraefn's ate, or cliff gap, later to be rendered 'Ramisgate' or 'Remmesgate' around 1225 and 'Ramesgate' from 1357. The legendary mercenaries Hengest and Horsa landed in the 5th century to herald the pagan Anglo-Saxon age in England. The Christian missionary St. Augustine landed in Ramsgate in 597 which re-established the link between England and the Christian church in Rome.
Ramsgate's harbour is a defining characteristic of the town. The construction of Ramsgate Harbour began in 1749 and was completed in about 1850. The Harbour has the unique distinction of being the only Royal Harbour in the United Kingdom. Because of its proximity to mainland Europe, Ramsgate was a chief embarkation point both during the Napoleonic Wars and for the Dunkirk evacuation in 1940.

Tout dans cette composition respire la tranquillité ! peut-être est-ce dû à ces eaux calmes qui réfléchissent les lumières de la nuit !

erg mooie goed uitgebalanceerde compositie. Prachtige weerspiegeling en goede nachtkleuren,
Ik vind 'The' als enig leesbaar element een goeie rol in de foto spelen.

Dag, Rob. De wel belichte gevels midden in de foto trekken onmiddellijk de aandacht. Ze worden mooi weerspiegeld op het water, waar we juist naast de reflecties de boten waarnemen. Deze contrasteren goed met de lichten van de gevels en staan ook goed uit op het donkere water. Mooie nachtstemming.

Olá Rob, not a window reflection this time, but still a reflection. The graphic effect is enhanced by the night time and the perfectly still waters of the marina. It seems there was no wind at all, the complete opposite of patagonia, the most windy place in the world ;-) Nice postcard of Ramsgate.

Dag Rob,

Ramsgate een drukke havenstad met een bekende geschiedenis, ook bij nacht blijkt er nog wat activiteit te bestaan.
Raar maar waar de weerspiegelingen in het water zijn veel zachter dan de gevels, ik vind dit zo wie zo een geslaagde foto.
Zeer mooie samenstelling, was dit zonder statief? Bedankt.

Hi Rob,

I always enjoy when my TE friends try something different. I would say that your normal style is unique with your fantastic and very artistic shots. This is more of an ordinary type of night shot you see in TE. Nevertheless, it is an excellent night shot with wonderful colours and reflections. A really fine photo job. not only a good management of light but also a well chosen theme. The reflection on the calm water adds a lot to this night shot. Considering it's a handheld catch, it's pin sharp and well focused. Well done!

Bonjour Rob,
au niveau de la capture des couleurs et des lumières, bien cadrée aussi, seul un petit manque de netteté me semble gêner un peu, mais très peu, comme un bougé.
J'aime beaucoup cette ambiance calme.
