Photographer’s Note
After a full day of hunting around the city to take a good shot, i came home tired and frustrated empty handed.Slept off. Woke up late in the evening and again took my camera. These two pigions were fooling around a street light. Simple casual shot which goes to fuel the firy debate : Are Most Unique Shots Accidental?
Cheers,
Satyakki

Wonderful movement and placement against the black blackdrop of the street light. A surprise, most unique. Judy

hi Satyakki
I have a few questions on this shot
.was this outside or inside?
.where did the light come from?
.the BG looked dim, but you could get 1/1000s?
.time of shot 4.10pm, so it not be dark?
.birds in flight, where was lamp located?
I am surprised at the freeze of the wings but it is a good shot.
I could imagine the light coming through where the birds flew and the place in dark interior to give the BG black.
Very interesting. What pp work is done?

Hi Satyakki,
Poetry in this photograph, good timing in the catch of sight and the light blur accentuates this feeling of lightness in the image. Pretty and pleasant glance, thank you Satyakki.

Great freeze frame but i don't understand how this light was achieved. And street light at 4:10 in the afternoon? :) That also i didn't quite get :)

Indeed, a lot of unique shots are either accidental or planned & staged ;)
Very impressive capture of the movement there.
I was trying to justify this on TrekEarth instead of TrekLens, but I guess your note says it all, it is an embodiement of the hunt for the perfect shot we all love to squeeze results from all the corners of this lovely little planet of ours ;)

Hello Satyakki, The result you have achieved here is very pleasant, the pigeons really stand out against the dark BG, they are well lit & nicely placed in the frame. To me it does not matter a great deal how you achieved it but sometimes we ask question because this is another way we improve our photography. I had similar questions to BIll & read those comments so my questions have been answered in a way. A pleasant image, well done.
Regards
Santo
PS. To answer your question, in my opinion, a good photographer has far more good accidental shots than a bad photographer. ;-))

this is an incredibly beautiful shot! The 2 pigeons are perfectly placed, and the light on their wings gives them a splendid whiteness for a superb contrast with the dark background!

A unique and lovely shot with the pigeons in the frame, sharp, and with a backlight (the light seems to come from the bottom left)
To answer your question: I think that when you look for perfection, you get more and more fantastic shots. Look at the famous photographers: we know only a few pictures from their gallery. now with digital camera, it's money worth!
