Salt pans at Curca Photo

Photographer’s Note

We were heading towards the south of Goa, and a bit after Panjim (the state's capital), I saw from afar the salt pans in the village of Curca and decided to have a look at it...
At this time of the year, it is the season for producing salt in Goa.

The salt pan workers have been reduced to practical oblivion. So dismal is their condition, so uncertain their future that many who have known no other occupation for decades are today considering giving up their ancestral occupation.

Les couleurs chaudes sont superbes et le petit bout de reflection en bas de l'image la complète parfaitement

Dear Marilyn,

This is good. Not only on the subject, but even more on the framing and timing. The one standing, the other one not yet. The crop and the colour balance is also what i like, the woman het red/yellow dress fits perfect to the surrounding they are working in.
The ws is not good, it's not sharp, so i'm glad you didn't post that one...

Vraiment excellent. Le sujet d'abord, très intéressant, une découverte d'un autre mode de vie.
La qualité de la photo ensuite, lumière, couleurs, harmonie dans les tons. La composition excellente avec les deux personnes idéalement situées. Et puis en prime le beau reflet dans le bas de l'image. Félicitations.

cette image me rappele les tanneries de Fez...surtout elle me rappele la totale absènce des reglements de securité ici....et cela est un gros contraste avec toutes les lois qu'on a ici....meme si les accidents dans les usines se passent encore.

j'aime aussi la lumière de cette image et le dynamisme des gens qui travaillent

J'aime bien cet image, Marilyn. Deja l'orange, le jaune, l'ombre de terre brule. Toutes les couleurs chaudes que j'admire en combinaison. Avec le sujet inhabituel, ca fait deja un evenement du soir pour moi. Tres content de t'avoir vue ainsi en pleine forme.

Les marais salants deviennent ta spécialité!La lumière et les couleurs chaudes rendent bien la température qui règne et les pieds et les mains nus sont sans doute bien rongées par le contact permanent avec le sel... un travail difficile qui va bientôt disparaître...

Elle est vraiment superbe cell-ci Marylin . Les tons des salines vont si bien avec les habits des personnes notamment le orange et le jaune. Excellent d'avoir le reflet egalement. Une tres belle image.

la répétition des petits murets de séparation fait un joli graphisme,et leur couleur de terre est superbement réhaussée par une splendide lumière!Les vêtements jaunes et oranges de la femme et les paniers contribuent à cette chaude ambiance,tandis que les vêtements blancs de l'homme ainsi que le petit tas de sel donnent un très joli contraste!Magnifique!

Oh I like the brown color tone to dominate this scene and warm light enhanced the beauty of the land here.

I am fascinated with the little bit of reflection in the water of the two people here. The woman's orange is a great contrast here.

I've heard there are some salt pans near Mumbai as well...I'm eager to go there. The graphic element of the dykes, the contrast between the white & the brown colour, the little reflections...a good daily life shot here!

Cette saline me renvoi encore à madagascar ou les gens aux pieds nus travaillent ainsi.
J'ai aimé ton cadrage original : petit reflet en bas et prolongement sur la saline en haut.
du proche réaliste vers le lointain presque irreel
