Photographer’s Note
This is Sydney city taken from west of it in Balmain. In the shot you can see Centrepoint tower (which is about our 4th tallest building) and to the left is the historical Rocks area. To the far right is Darling Harbour.

Hallo Lisa!
A most impressive and beautiful photo indeed! All here is perfect I think - and these clouds add a lot to the wonderful night atmosphere. An outstanding photo!

Hi Lisa,
A wonderful cityscape. Sharpness is incredible and those warm tones left in the sky are beautiful.

Hello Lisa,
A good night time capture of this splendid waterfront with its high rise buildings. The streaks of light across the water are a nice addition and add to the mood as do the hints of the clouds in the night sky. Very good sharpness.

Still. Harsh. Severe. But solid.
That is what I think.
It is a very horizontal subject matter isn't it.
The sky doesn't do much for me, but the water in the front does add some texture and random splash of red and blue give it something to contrast the black.
Overall it works. 2 points.

ciao Lisa,

Hello Lisa,
4 sec...not bad ;-)
I don't have these views in my area, but i love to see them and always try to make them when i'm on location, just what in did in Auckland. These views always reminds me on a Christmas tree with all those lights on, how beautiful. When i ever visit Sydney again i will try to make something like this. And although there is some distortion on the fallen lines on the left, i like the overal view a lot, especially with some extra detail in the sky.
Regards,
Henk

Hi Lisa,
There are so many lights it really looks feeric, I had the chance to shoot some images of Sysney by night in 94, but had poor hardware at this time and so do my photos look poor, I guess this means I have to return !
Have a nice day JY

Hi Lisa,
This time of year seems to be optimal for such shots, sun setting when there's still lights on most offices. Very nice color variation on reflections, and good that there's clouds adding interest to the sky.

Ciao Lisa, A nice shot of Sydney's skyline, I like the clouds in the sky, mine are usually taken very late at night with the sky black. The buildings are well lit & reflect very nicely in the water. I think if it were possible for you to use a smaller aperture say F8 or F11 the image might not have dropped of in sharpness toward the end. Only a small point & an opinion.
Nice atmosphere, very well captured.
Un caro saluto

Hi Lisa, A fine idea you had with this shot. The reflected light is great. It is intriguing that the reflection of the coloured lights seem much wider and brighter than the lights themselves? Is that a slight lean to the right, or just distortion? I like the sky, with the clouds being lit up by the city lights, although it is a bit noisy (the sky that is). I wonder if in sharpening the image the noise has been made worse? Before you head off o/s with your new camera, there's plenty in Melbourne worth having a go at... cheers, steve

Hi Lisa,
I missed this one somehow, nice work. The night capture looks good, I like the reflections of colour across the water.
I see Steve has mentioned the sharps and noise in the sky, pretty hard to avoid. I think with so many lights some of them tend to OE which gives them a slightly fuzzy look. I had a go at a blue hour large post shot of Darling Harbour a while ago and found that the shots I took later on in the evening weren't as attractive as the ones where the faces of the buildings were lit by the glow from the western sky after the sun had set. I did have a clear sky but even if there had been clouds they wouldn't have been affected as much by the reflection of the city lights.
Anyway, this is a good looking shot, like me I think you were trying some new techniques, fun learning though, isn't it.
You going somewhere OS soon?????
warm wishes
Pete
