Photographer’s Note

In Amsterdam, the first weeks of may are the weeks of the faal of the seeds. Especially when the wind is blowing it looks like autumn and some places it looks like it is snowing.
The blossom of the elms, the trees along the canals, is dries up and falls down in massive quantities like you can see here in the canal.
It is also the time for little boats and cruising the canals.

You captured very special moment during rarely available period. I liked your way adding beauty of canal vertically and the boat full with passengers. Wanneer in kijkt naar de foto's uit Amsterdam dan herken ik zowat Brugge, met de kleine kanalen, maar Amsterdam heeft duizend bruggen en Brugge heeft er maar enkele tientallen.
Prettige lente foto met het jonge groen van de bomen en de boot doet het zeker goed op de foto.

A very nice atmopshere to this composition of tourists enjoying a canal ride in the May sunshine. The little boat is well placed in the frame and emphasises the deep long perspective down the canal. Lovely spring colours in the green leaved trees.

Excellent composition, using the walls of the canal, to give diminishing linear perspective. The boat & people add a good focal point. The fallen blossum is clearly visible at left. Tfs!

I have neither been to Amsterdam nor Venice, so I cannot compare the scenery of both places but this canal scene with so many falling seeds is very interesting to see what you have captured.

Thank god I don't suffer (much...) of allergies, because this would be a nightmare instead of a beautiful urban Spring scene. You capture the light and colours wonderfully and the compo is very effective and nice.

Hi Gerrit,
very interesting that the water streets of Amsterdam. The colors were great and I found strange cars parked so close to the channel without any protection. Cars fell into the water in case of accident or inattention?

Een prachtige foto met een mooi zicht op het kanaal met veel diepte. Het groene van de bomen is zo mooi. De details van al die blaadjes op het water geeft een mooie effect. Knap zicht dat je prachtig hebt vastgelegd!

Prachtig beeld met de randen van het kanaal gevuld met kleine blaadjes van de bloemen van de bomen.
Merkwaardig contrast tussen geparkeerde auto's en boten. Uitstekende vooruitzichten en prachtig licht en details.
