Photographer’s Note
Very picturesque chörten on the way from Syangboche to Dhakmar.
A group of chorten in the colours of white, blue and saffron yellow are being called Rigs-gsum mgon-po in the area of the himalaya.
They are being dedicated to the three Bhodisattvas of tibetan buddhism - Vajrapani, Avalokiteshvara, Manjusri.
The colours of the chorten meaning blue for strength, white for purity and peacefulness and saffron yellow represents the sunlight that disperses darkness.
Thanks for looking!

Hi Laura
These chorten are, as usual, well integrated in the landscape ; thank you for this interesting picture and explanation.

HI Laura,
I like the light hitting the mountain, providing a good BG for those interesting 'Chorten'.

Hi Laura,
Eye-catching picture. I like the framing with the low rocks in the foreground and the mountain slope behind. Makes the chorten stand out. Thanks.

Hi Laura,
Great low pov with out-of-focus foreground elements, making a great composition. This is a great post, perfect title as the subtle colour variations are the real drawing card here. Thanks for sharing & have a good WE.

Its very easy to miss the chortens againt the barren tibetian landscape..alot like ladakh..
The pile up of stones i was told was to symbolise a wish after a prayer.
And the other version of chortens was..the base signifies land..middle the water..upper fire and the topmost..air..
and another version :0...they are created to commemorate the dear departed..
Cheers

What wonderful colours, muted but still vibrant. It is hard to imagine folk living in this kind of landscape.
I also like the accident in the shadow on the slope above which makes it look like there is a house there.
