Photographer’s Note
The phenomenon of fortified churches in Southern Transylvania is unique in the context of European architecture due to the large number of structures (it is estimated that 300 fortresses existed) and diverse architectural solutions implemented during their construction. Protection against invasions of migratory peoples was the main reason behind the construction of such a large number of fortified churches.
The largest and oldest fortified church in the country was raised at Medias in the 15th century. It is the Evangelic Church "St. Margaret" or the "Castle" represented the core around which the citadel gradually developed.
This is the entrance of the fortified church.

Hi Laura,
A wonderful perspective with great illumination from the entrance of the tunnel!
Sharp details on the gate and the wall!
The man is properly placed to increase impact!
Nice presentation with a neat frame.
Well done.
Regards.

Laura,
This photo has a very lonely, meditative mood to it. I like it very much. I assume this is looking out from inside the entrance of the church.
Thanks,
Michael

O compozitie faina in simplitatea ei, interesanta si nota, n-am ajuns niciodata la Medias, dar daca seamana cu Sibiul, trebuie neaparat ...
