Photographer’s Note

This is a re-post. It's possible this started with a new scan of the negative at higher resolution. There was a clockwise rotation of 1 degree. The rest was using Photoshop to calibrate light and texture, and a good deal of compensating for flaws in the negative itself. Aside from any esthetic shortcomings, these might include inconsistencies in the chemical bath or whatever happens when something sits around for twenty years under less than optimum conditions. My thanks to the people who made the critiques, since I have every reason to think they're right.

I took the photo while on a camping trip across northern Finland and Norway. This was taken late at night, at a time of the year when the sun doesn't quite set.
